Duvet Cover

A duvet cover is the barrier between the duvet and everything that would otherwise reach it — perspiration, body oils, the spilled cup of tea. Wash the cover, not the duvet, and the duvet lasts years longer.

Natural Home's duvet covers come in cotton and bamboo, in Single (64"x88"), Double (88"x88") and King (104"x88"). One thing to note before you buy: quilt covers are sized to the duvet, not to the mattress.

  • Protects the duvet

Neither down nor silk duvets should be washed at home. A cover keeps the cleaning on the layer that can go in the machine.

  • Three Sizes

Single 64"x88", Double 88"x88" and King 104"x88", offering a more generous fit than standard duvet dimensions.

  • Two Fabrics

Cotton for a smooth, hard-wearing finish; Bamboo for a cool, silky feel in humid weather.

How to Size a Duvet Cover: Measure the Duvet, Not the Bed

Fitted sheets follow mattress width. Duvet covers follow the duvet. That difference is behind most wrong purchases — the same 4.5ft bed might have a Single duvet on it or a Double, and it's the duvet that decides.

  • Single (64"x88", roughly 163 x 224cm): fits a single duvet, typically used on a 3ft bed.
  • Queen (88"x88", roughly 224 x 224cm): fits a double duvet, typically used on a 4ft to 5ft bed.
  • King (104"x88"): fits a king duvet — for a 6ft bed or larger, or for two sharing who want more width to go round.

The reliable method is to lay your existing duvet flat and measure it, then match against the three sizes above. If it falls between two, take the larger one: a slightly loose cover changes nothing, while a tight one compresses the duvet and costs you loft.

  • Duvet Covers, Quilt Covers and Comforter Covers — the Same Thing?

Yes. "Duvet cover" is the British term, "quilt cover" the Australian one, and "comforter cover" the American one; all three describe the removable, washable outer layer that goes over the duvet.Hong Kong listings use all of them. What they are not is a full duvet cover set — that means the fitted sheet, duvet cover and pillowcases together, of which the cover is one piece. If your fitted sheet is still fine, buying the cover on its own is the cheaper route.

  • Cotton or Bamboo?

Choose cotton for smoothness and durability, bamboo if you tend to overheat.

    • Premium cotton duvet cover is woven at 400 threads per square inch with Wrinkle Clear® technology — smooth, resilient in the wash, and comfortable year-round.
    • Bamboo duvet cover is 100% bamboo modal woven: silky to the touch, and it draws moisture away from the body to help hold a comfortable temperature, which tells most in humid, muggy weather.

  • Durability & Care

The cover is the most frequently washed item in a bed set, so care determines how long it lasts.

    • Wash every one to two weeks at or below 40°C with a mild detergent, and skip the bleach.
    • Turning the cover inside out and closing the opening before washing reduces abrasion against the drum.
    • Cotton may shrink slightly after the first wash, which is normal.
    • Bamboo is a regenerated cellulose fiber and weaker when wet, so use a gentle cycle and avoid fabric softener.

FAQs on Duvet Covers

1. What Drives the Price of a Duvet Cover?

The same item can vary several-fold in price. Three things account for most of it:

  • Fabric and thread count: a 400-thread-count cotton sateen costs more to weave than a 200-thread-count plain weave, and regenerated fibres such as bamboo carry a higher raw material cost.
  • Treatments: Wrinkle Clear® anti-wrinkle and anti-bacterial finishes each add a processing stage.
  • Size and stock status: King uses more fabric; Outlet clearance stock is priced to clear, with limited designs and sizes.

This collection carries both full-price and Outlet items. Current pricing and availability are on the product pages.
